ROANOKE, Va. – An area of high pressure to our south looks to bring in some moisture and warmth for Christmas and the start of Hannukah. Skies will gradually become cloudier throughout the day as temperatures get close to the 50 degree mark. Is there even a chance we see snow?
Well, on Christmas eve Santa Claus will be making his routine trip to the mid-Atlantic. Skies will be clear to partly cloudy with decreasing temperatures, but no precipitation is expected during this time.
How about Christmas Day? By Christmas morning, temperatures will be in the 30s with partly to mostly cloudy skies. Some areas will wake up with temps in the 20s! This means temperatures will be cold enough for some!
The afternoon warms up pretty quickly, and as we head into the evening, things start to settle down and temperatures begin to drop. Could we see snow at night?
Unfortunately, Christmas won’t have enough moisture for precipitation to fall, and the forecast for this year’s holiday does not call for snow. The odds of seeing 1 inch of snow are zero for all of Southwest and Central Virginia.
However, it will be a dry and seasonable day to enjoy spending time with friends and family! If you would like to share how you spent your holiday with us, you can do so by going to Pin It!
