ROANOKE, Va. – Here is a look at what is on our radar for the next few days. A cold front moves in and brings some changes for the rest of the week.
Once the fog burns off, partly cloudy skies go back and forth with mostly cloudy skies as temperatures warm up.
The overall setup for the day is not too different from Monday. Moisture is being supplied from the south and will bring in scattered to widespread rain showers later in the afternoon.
Here is a look at futurecast at 5 p.m. Light to moderate rain is expected with a few pockets of heavy rain in between. The rain continues overnight into Wednesday as well. So, the next 24-36 hours are going to be soggy.
Once the cold front pushes through, there will be a chance for wintry precipitation. Snow is likely for the mountains and parts of the NRV and Highlands. Flurries are also possible in parts of the Roanoke Valley.
Future rainfall estimates range from half an inch to two inches across Southwest and Central Virginia. Any rain is helpful as conditions have been fairly dry for the past couple of weeks.
After the rain, the wind returns with gusts close to 30mph building in late Wednesday and sticking around for Thursday.
