Temperatures simmer down a bit Friday ahead of scattered weekend storms

Parts of the area will get some much-needed rain, while others stay thirsty

ROANOKE, Va. – The Roanoke Valley has reached 90° six days in a row. It looks like Friday will fall just short of that, though, thanks to an upslope flow and more clouds than we saw Thursday.

This may lead to a few sporadic evening showers from the southeast, but the better chance of storms comes Saturday afternoon and evening along a slow-moving front.

This front won’t necessarily cool things down after a few early showers Sunday. In fact, highs recover into the 80s and 90s.
