A man is dead after authorities said he was shot early Monday morning in Lynchburg. Officers responded to the 1000 block of Knight Street around 1:32 a.m. for a report of a shooting and malicious wounding, according to police. When officers arrived, they said they found 37-year-old Marlon Williams with a gunshot wound and he was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital, where he later died. Charge against Roanoke man originally accused in fiancรฉ's death dropped
The charges against a Roanoke man who was originally charged for the second-degree murder of his fiance have been dropped. In an arraignment on Friday morning, the charges against Bonds were nolle prosequi โ meaning the charges were dismissed by the prosecution. In February, police said DeAngelo Bonds, 22, shot and killed Adreonna Keffer, 18, of Roanoke, and then disposed of her body in the Roanoke River. Police said they saw what looked like a pool of blood outside the apartment door and found blood on the floor and walls. A rifle, magazines and a green leafy substance were also discovered by authorities.
Lynchburg police name officer that shot, killed dog in wellness check turned standoff
LYNCHBURG, Va. โ Authorities have named the officer that they said shot and killed a dog during a wellness check that turned into a standoff in Lynchburg last month. On Feb. 25 around 9 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Holcomb Path Road for a wellness check and said that a man shut himself in a residence with multiple weapons. Despite that, he still would not allow officers to take him into custody, according to the Lynchburg Police Department. The bullet hit a dog sitting on top of the man, killing the dog, according to the Lynchburg Police Department. The Lynchburg Police Department also is conducting an internal investigation.

Authorities say Kenneth Younce II is wanted by U.S. Marshals for failure to appear for possession of a firearm by a felon, grand larceny and forgery. Younce is also wanted by the Pulaski County Sheriffโs Office and Giles County Sheriffโs Office for two failure to appear for grand larceny of auto charges along with kidnapping, extortion and aggravated assault. Driver dies after Pittsylvania County crash
PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. โ A man is dead after authorities say he was ejected from his car early Sunday morning. According to Virginia State Police, the crash happened around 1 a.m. in the 1200 block of Berry Hill Road. Martin Rust, 48, or Danville was driving a 2004 Volvo XC70 and going north through a curve when his car overturned after hitting an embankment and he was ejected, police say. Officers say he was not wearing a seatbelt. According to police, Rust was airlifted to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital and died later Sunday morningAuthorities say he died at the hospital the crash remains under investigation.
Man arrested for allegedly shooting into occupied vehicle in Patrick County
PATRICK COUNTY, Va. โ Authorities arrested a Patrick County man after he allegedly fired several shots into an occupied vehicle on Tuesday. 48-year-old Sammy Wayne Smith is facing charges of shooting into an occupied vehicle, brandishing a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to Patrick County Sheriff Dan Smith. The man got into his car and caught up with the vehicle he suspected in the shots fired incident, according to the Sheriffโs Office. The tactical response team for the Sheriffโs Office executed a search warrant at Smithโs home around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and they took him into custody. Smith is being held without bail in the Patrick County Jail.

ROANOKE, Va. โ A man was shot in Roanoke early Saturday morning. He told police an unknown vehicle drove by and he was shot, according to a Roanoke Police Department release. The adult male drove himself to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound. According to police, the man says he pulled over in the area of 14th Street and Moorman Road in Northwest Roanoke. While standing outside of his car, an unknown car drove by and he was shot.
Virginia man killed while driving riding lawnmower in road
HAMPTON, Va. โ A Virginia police department says a man was killed last weekend when the riding lawnmower he was driving in the center of the road was hit from behind by a car. Hampton Police said they received a call about an accident on Shell Road around 11 p.m. on Saturday. Officers found a Chevrolet Malibu sedan that hit a lawnmower in the road from behind. Two people were on the lawnmower, and the driver, 62-year-old Floyd Arthur Howard, died. The passenger on the lawnmower was taken to the hospital with injuries which police said were not considered life-threatening.

Blacksburg man found shot dead outside D.C. gas station

Texas man sentenced to prison for stalking Taylor Swift
NASHVILLE, Tenn. โ A federal judge has sentenced an Austin, Texas, man to 30 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to stalking and sending threatening letters and emails to pop star Taylor Swift's former record label. According to records filed in federal court, Eric Swarbrick was given the sentence during a hearing Wednesday in Nashville. The complaint said Swarbrick sent over 40 letters and emails to Big Machine Label Group in 2018, asking the CEO to introduce him to Swift. Over time the letters became more violent and threatening. On three occasions Swarbrick drove to Nashville to personally deliver them.
Roanoke police searching for car involved in deadly hit-and-run crash
ROANOKE, Va. โ Police are looking for the car that hit and killed a 55-year-old Roanoke man who was crossing the street on Thursday evening. At about 6:15 p.m., police responded to the intersection of Salem Turnpike and Calvary Road NW to find a man just off the road with what appeared to be serious injuries, according to the Roanoke Police Department. The man, who authorities identified as Albert Cager Jr., was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital where he later died. Witnesses told police that Cager was crossing the road when he was hit by a cream or white-colored four-door older model sedan, which then drove away. Authorities said there was no vehicle at the scene and witnesses said they saw the vehicle continue east on Salem Turnpike NW after the crash.
Pulaski County man steals John Deere tractor, jumps on train then gets arrested, police say
PULASKI, Va. A Pulaski County man is in jail on multiple charges after police say he had quite the Friday morning. Shortly before 10:30 a.m., Pulaski police responded to the railroad tracks in the Warden Springs Road area of the town because a man had jumped onto a train. The man was described as wearing no shoes or shirt, just jeans, according to police. Police were told that he had taken over radio communications on the train and when they arrived, they said he was standing on top of the train. During the course of the investigation, officers learned that before Isbill jumped on the train, he had stolen a John Deere tractor from a nearby farm.
