France’s anti-terrorism court has convicted eight people of involvement in the beheading of teacher Samuel Paty in 2020.

A French juvenile court has convicted six teenagers for their roles in the beheading of a teacher by an Islamic extremist that shocked the country.

French authorities and media reports say a teacher has been stabbed to death in southwestern France by a high school student.

French schools are paying tribute to a teacher beheaded by a radical Islamist last year after he showed caricatures of the prophet of Islam to his class.

Thirteen people on trial in Paris are accused of cyberbullying or death threats against a teenage girl who posted comments online that contained comments critical of Islam.

The wide-ranging bill, titled “Supporting respect for the principles of the Republic,” covers most aspects of French life. But Le Pen criticized the bill as too weak and offered what she called her own, tougher counter-proposal. The bill mentions neither Muslims nor Islam by name. The measure has been dubbed the "separatism" bill, a term used by Macron to refer to radicals who would create a “counter society” in France. Associations must sign a contract of respect for French values and pay back state funds, if they cross a line.

Rutte spoke hours after Rotterdam police said they had arrested an 18-year-old girl on suspicion she posted a message on social media that “incited others to commit crimes" directed at the school and teacher. Police tweeted Nov. 3 that the teacher had been threatened and that they were treating the case “extremely seriously.” Police did not elaborate on the nature of the threats. The cartoonist, Joep Bertrams, told Dutch daily Trouw this week that it is not a depiction of Islam's Prophet Muhammad. The drawing won a Dutch prize as the best political cartoon of the year in 2015.

He also confirmed that a Twitter account under the name Abdoulakh A belonged to the suspect. A police official said the suspect was shot dead about 600 meters (yards) from where Paty died. France has offered asylum to many Chechens since the Russian military waged war against Islamist separatists in Chechnya in the 1990s and early 2000s. This is the second time in three weeks that terror has struck France linked to caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad.
