Christiansburg man donates $10,000 of lottery winnings to animal shelter
This Christmas, the Montgomery County Animal Care and Adoption Center got a very special gift. “We had an amazing donor donate $10,000,” said shelter director Eileen Mahan. “The amount of generosity...it just takes your breath away.”She said it’s the biggest donation the shelter has ever received. “So it just makes everything better.”The couple that donated the money won a $1 million lottery ticket. “It is definitely the best Christmas gift these animals can get, I guess short of a new home,” said Mahan.

Nearly 100 pets adopted from Montgomery County Animal Care and Adoption Center
CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. All month long, our Clear the Shelters campaign has helped pets across Southwest and Central Virginia find their furever homes. Clear the Shelters doesnt end until Aug. 31, but Montgomery County Animal Care and Adoption Center has adopted out nearly one hundred pets. The shelter still has several animals looking for a family and many of them are seniors. Thanks to the Friends of the Animal Care and Adoption Center, adoption fees for seniors are taken care of. Director Eileen Mahan also mentions they have more cats than dogs ready for a home.
