At about 7:45 p.m., Roanoke County Fire and Rescue responded to the 8500 block of Summer View Drive in the Hollins area for reports of a house fire. Upon arrival, crews found fire and smoke coming from the front corner of a one-story home. Officials said the two adults inside the home were able to escape unharmed. The two residents were displaced and are staying with neighbors, according to the fire department.

This comes after it decided in December to opt out of the basketball season. Protocols that Hollins plans to continue to adhere to. When you’re not competing it’s hard to practice for weeks and weeks. A full time out so to speak, for what could be a great run for the Hollins next season.

HOLLINS, Va – Several projects in hopes of making the Hollins area in Roanoke County more pedestrian-friendly are almost done. Work just finished up on a new traffic signal and crosswalk at the intersection of Lila Drive and Plantation Road. The plans were approved as part of the Hollins area plan in 2009 after drivers faced issues turning on to plantation safely. Several walking paths are set to be built in the area with construction starting this spring.

But he was neither for nor against the plan..he just wanted to let the board know his family’s farm was not for sale.

The damage came after recently reopening after months of being closed due to COVID-19. Don Ho’s owner Donnie Sutliff said he has not seen water damage this bad in nearly 20 years. He estimates about 5 inches of rain got inside and caused damage to the restaurant. Don Ho’s has big plans in place to celebrate its 20th anniversary next month, but Sutliff said the restaurant will remained closed until further notice.
