It’s been 80 years since the Bedford community learned that they lost the Bedford Boys. Family commemorated July 17, the day the telegram came into town sharing the news of their death on D-Day with a ceremony.

The legacy of a local soldier, killed in action on D-Day in Normandy, will live on here at home.

We can’t talk about D-Day without talking about the Bedford Boys, the many who lost their lives on that fateful day.

The Bedford Boys Tribute Center is the home base for the stories of the 19 men who lost their lives just minutes after they hit the beach on D-Day. The Center is located in historic Green's Drug Store in downtown Bedford. The museum is ever-expanding in terms of the memorabilia, and now the people who run the Center are also looking to buy it.

The National D-Day Memorial in Bedford hosted a ceremony Thursday morning, featuring Governor Glenn Youngkin, who spoke.

People gathered in Greenwood Cemetery to honor and remember local heroes on Monday.

On Monday, the town of Bedford paid tribute to the men who lost their lives on D-Day more than 70 years ago.

Charlotte Powers is related to Jack Powers, one of 19 "Bedford Boys" who died during D-Day.

BEDFORD, Va. For the first time, the annual D-Day ceremony in Bedford will be virtual, which means a big loss in potential revenue for businesses in the town. There was no crowd Friday at the Bedford Boys Tribute Center, adding insult to injury after the past few months. Being closed these months, weve lost a lot of revenue coming in to sustain and pay the rent and everything," said Bedford Boys Tribute Center Co-Curator Linda Parker.
