Man arrested following human trafficking investigation in Rockbridge County

ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY, Va. – A man was arrested following a human trafficking investigation in Rockbridge County on Monday, Virginia State Police said.

Virginia State Police, Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Salem Field Office said after a lengthy investigation, they arrested 67-year-old Earl Smith on Monday. He was charged with the following:

  • Prostitution
  • Transportation for Prostitution
  • Keeping or Residing a Bawdy Place
  • Human Trafficking

VSP said the investigation was conducted in the Roanoke Valley and Rockbridge County communities. Physical evidence of Smith’s trafficking operation was seized from multiple locations, including his own residence. Undisclosed narcotics and firearms were also seized.

This investigation is still ongoing, and VSP is still following up on leads and interviewing witnesses involved.
