LYNCHBURG, Va. – Two have been displaced following a house fire in Lynchburg, Lynchburg Fire Department said.
LFD said they responded to a house fire on Herbert Street this afternoon. Upon arrival they found heavy smoke coming from the home and fire coming out of the basement entrance. After about 20 minutes, crews had the fire under control.

Two residents in the home safely escaped the house prior to the arrival of the firefighters. They are being assisted with temporary housing.
LFD believes the fire started in the basement kitchen area.
