Pulaski man arrested after making threats while allegedly armed with a gun Tuesday

PULASKI, Va. – The Pulaski Police Department arrested a 33-year-old Pulaski man after he allegedly made threats to occupants of an apartment while allegedly armed with a gun.

According to Pulaski PD, officials responded to Laurel Wood Apartments at 4:55 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a “white male” banging on the door of an occupied apartment.

10 News has learned the occupants of the apartment were familiar with the suspect, who has been identified as 33-year-old James Blankenship IV.

Officers say an individual observed Blankenship leave the area in a vehicle, which officers were able to locate a short time later.

Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop but Blankenship fled to a residence on Valley Road in Pulaski Co.

Blankenship exited his vehicle and fled on foot to a wooded area adjacent to a family member’s home and surrendered approximately 20 minutes later without incident.

Blankenship was wanted on active warrants and he is currently being held in the New River Valley Regional Jail where he is being held without bond.

Pulaski PD says the investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
