Missing Roanoke Lawyer found safe in Fairfax

ROANOKE COUNTY, VAUPDATE:

Luke Young has been found safe in Fairfax, according to family members.

According to his sister, Young made his way to a fire station in Fairfax and is currently being examined at the Hospital.

10 News will continue to update this story as information becomes available.

It’s been a week since anyone has heard from Roanoke attorney Luke Young, and now, his family tells 10 News they’re frustrated with how police are handling the case.

“I’m angry. I’m incredibly frustrated and disappointed,” Luke’s sister Malea Walker said.

For Walker, the last week has been a self-proclaimed nightmare.

“None of it seems to make sense to us, but we’re going to try to get the word out as much as possible, get his picture out in front of people,” she said.

We sat down with Walker, who walked us through the timeline of events.

She says the last time there was known contact with Luke was last Thursday.

“Thursday he spoke with a number of his friends, my mom, in the evening he spoke to his kids,” Walker said.

But she started to worry when no one had heard from him by Saturday.

“His phone had seemingly been off for a couple of days and he hadn’t been in touch with his kids,” she said.

On Monday, his car was found at an apartment complex in Fairfax, where Walker says they found clothes that didn’t belong to him.

“Me and my husband went over and we found the car. The Fairfax County police looked through it, and they said they didn’t find anything of interest,” Walker said.

The family filed a missing persons report with Roanoke County police, but Thursday, they called off the search.

“They seem to think he was just on a trip. But his plans for a trip were to go to Texas, and he never made it there,” Walker said.

For now, Walker and her family are trying to use social media to get the word out. Walker’s Facebook post about her brother has close to 800 shares.

But why did Roanoke County police suspend the seach?

Well, police tell us that they found no suspicious activity, or any information leading them to believe that Luke is in danger.

Because Luke is an adult, he is technically allowed to ‘go missing,’ - but his family says this is unlike him.
