SALEM, Va. – John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home and Crematory in Salem is hosting a tribute to former President Jimmy Carter. The funeral home has set up a register book for community members to sign and receive a memorial folder in remembrance of Carter.
The tribute is inside the funeral home’s front entrance and will be available through Jan. 28.
Afterward, the register book will be sent to the Carter Presidential Library. The funeral home invites everyone in the community to participate in this event.
Governor Glenn Youngkin has ordered flags to be lowered in Virginia for a month in honor of the former President. They’ll remain at half-staff for thirty days, until Jan. 28. Carter died Sunday, at the age of 100. He’s the oldest living U.S. President.
