ALTAVISTA, Va. – UPDATE:
A man has been located and arrested following this shooting incident, Altavista Police Department said.

APD said they, along with Campbell County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team, arrested 21-year-old Shaquan Dews on Tuesday afternoon for being in connection with the Saturday night shooting.
Dews was charged with the following:
- Aggravated Malicious Wounding
- Attempted Robbery
- Grand Larceny
- Use of a Firearm in the commission of a felony
- Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
Dews is currently being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail without bond.
ORIGINAL STORY:
The Altavista Police Department is searching for a vehicle that may have been driven by someone involved in a Saturday night shooting that left a man injured.
APD said they responded to reports of a shooting around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday near Novelty Street and Amherst Avenue. Upon arrival, they found a 33-year-old man with a gunshot wound. He is reported to be in serious condition at a Lynchburg hospital.
Police believe the shooting is not random and there is no further danger to the public.
