Many Virginians may be spending the first day of the new year hiking!
First Day Hikes is an initiative led by America’s State Park System. It’s become a tradition to start the new year off right by getting some outdoor exercise, which for many is the basis for a New Year’s resolution.

In addition to just having a good time, parking will be free at all Virginia State Park locations on January 1, and visitors will get a First Day Hike sticker while supplies last!
