WATCH: Grant to support Healthcare Education in Virginia

ROANOKE, Va. – Supporting healthcare education across the Commonwealth. That’s the purpose of a $50,000 grant given to community colleges in Virginia.

Leaders say this investment will help expand access to healthcare careers for students, giving them the foundational tools they need to succeed in the workplace. They say the money will go where it’s needed.

“Sometimes that’s marketing to get the right students, sometimes that’s outreach to get more enrollment, sometimes that’s a little bit of technology or high flex spaces to get what we need on campus, so it’ll really be where it’s most needed at the time that it’s most needed,” Gina Heckey, Director of Philanthropic Partnerships for the Virginia Foundation for Community College Education, said.

The check was presented at Virginia Western Community College because officials say they are a leader in healthcare education.
