BEDFORD, Va. – Crews from the Bedford Fire Department responded to an explosion in the basement of Forest Level Baptist Church on Bateman Bridge Road late Monday night.
The explosion caused significant damage, shattering the front and back of the church and lifting its peaked roof.

A large collapse occurred in the center of the stage area.
The structure was deemed extremely unsafe, prompting all units to be removed from the collapse zone, according to the Bedford Fire Department.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating the incident.
