WYTHE CO., Va. – Four have been charged after a drug bust in Wythe County, according to the Wythe County Sheriff’s Office.
on Sunday authorities executed a search warrant on a motel room located at the Ramada Inn on Peppers Ferry Rd. in Wytheville.
The purpose was to target the distribution of large quantities of methamphetamine.
According to the Wythe County Sheriff’s Office the warrant was carried out by the Sheriff’s Office Tactical team.
During the search, the team discovered 37-year-old Demetrick Perry in the room. Outside the room they found 33-year-old William Freeman with a large quantity of methamphetamine they also found psilocybin (mushrooms) and pills.
Deputies also seized $617 and a 2020 Honda Civic. Authorities also say during the operation a black Jeep fled the motel parking lot at a high rate of speed. Deputies initiated a pursuit as the vehicle sped through the Town of Wytheville and onto West Lee Hwy.
The chase then continued until deputies successfully stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Blacklick Rd and Kimberlin Rd.
The driver of the Jeep, 32-year-old Larry Bomar, and passenger, 22-year-old Haley Shumate were taken into custody at the scene.
Authorities say the search warrant resulted in the seizure of 98g of methamphetamine.
The suspects have been charged with the following:
Demetrick Perry:
- Possession with intent to distribute more than 10g of Methamphetamine
- Possession of Methamphetamine
- Possession of Brass Knuckles
William Freeman:
- Possession with intent to distribute more than 10g of Methamphetamine
Larry Bomar:
- Felony eluding police
- Two Counts of Abudtion (refusal to let two passengers out during the pursuit)
- Failure to stop before entering a public highway
- Reckless driving into a parking lot
Haley Shumate:
- Possession of Schedule I or II Drug
