WYTHE CO., Va. – Virginia State Police is currently investigating a fatal crash that killed a 73-year-old woman on Nov. 30.
VSP said the crash occurred on I-81 Northbound at 12:15 a.m. at the 59-mile marker in Wythe County.

A 2014 Chrysler Town and Country van was stopped in the right lane when it was struck from behind bay a 2018 Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer. The tractor-trailer then went off the left side of the road struck a guard-rail overturned and caught fire.
The Chrysler went off the side of the road, came back into traffic and then went off the left side of the road and struck a guard rail, VSP said.
A passenger in the van, 73-year-old Sarah Ann Williams, of Kingston North Carolina was taken to an area hospital where she later died of her injuries.
Two other people in the vehicle, 77-year-old Marquerite Clegg, of Godwin North Carolina, and 78-year-old John Clegg suffered serious injuries. VSP said it could not be determined who was driving the vehicle.
The two occupants of the tractor-trailer fled the scene and they were arrested shortly afterward.
VSP says Harpinger Singh and Kamaljeet Singh of Tracy, California have been charged with felony hit and run. The crash remains under investigation.
