With Helene hitting the East Coast, many drivers can expect to experience serious delays due to flooding, heavy winds, and other factors. We have compiled a list of the latest delays to keep you up to date.
FLOYD COUNTY

There have been trees reported down on Moore Road, Ferney Creek Road, Hollandsworth Road, and Floyd Highway. Portions of these roads may be entirely closed.
GRAYSON COUNTY
Part of Route 21, just North of Independence, has collapsed. The road is currently closed.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY
There have been reports of a tree down on Dry Run Road and Coal Hollow Road. There have also been reports of power lines down on Flatwoods Road and on Bradshaw Road into Roanoke County. Portions of these roads may be closed.
Ironto Rest area near mile marker 128.9 on I-81 Northbound is closed due to high water.
PATRICK COUNTY
Parts of Arat Highway and Squirrel Spur Road have been closed due to a downed tree.
PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY
There have been reports of a tree down on Ridgway Road at Court Road in Pittsylvania County and Martinsville Highway to Peach Orchard Road. This may result in sections of the roads being closed.
Dry Fork Road and W.I Powell Road will be closed at least the next 24 hours as crews work to restore electricity and asses the damage after a possible tornado touched down this afternoon in the Dry Fork area. A dozen homes were affected and there is one confirmed injury according to Pittsylvania County Director of Public Safety Chris Key.
ROANOKE CITY
The following Roanoke City roads are closed for varying reasons:
- 27th & Rosalind Avenue
- 27th & Carolina Avenue
- Bennington and Riverdale Road SE
- Wiley Drive SW
- 4100 & 4200 block of Griffin Road
- Franklin Road and Old Rocky Mount
- 1215 17th Street SE
- 200 block of Gilmer Avenue
- 2700 block of Florida Avenue
- Brambleton Avenue near Fishburn Park
- 10th Street SW & Campbell Avenue
- 4th Street SW and Elm Avenue
- Colonial Avenue SW & 26th
- 2052 Wise Avenue SE
- Edgewood Street & Mudlick Road
ROANOKE COUNTY
Trees have been reported down on the following roads in Roanoke:
- Parker Lane
- Green Ridge Road, Twilight Road to Wood Haven Road
- Meadowlark Road
- Catawba Valley Drive
- Wade Road
These may result in detours, if not complete closures of sections of these roads.
We have also received reports of a downed power line on Gravel Hill Road in Vinton. This road may be partially or entirely closed, so proceed with caution.
FLOODING
Portions of multiple roads in different counties may also be closed due to flooding. This currently includes:

- Giles County (LARGE AMOUNTS OF FLOODING. SIGNIFICANT ROAD CLOSURES)
- Grayson County (LARGE AMOUNTS OF FLOODING. SIGNIFICANT ROAD CLOSURES)
- Montgomery County (Persimmon Road)
- Pittsylvania County (Dairy Road, Martinsville Highway to Peach Orchard Road)
- Pulaski County (LARGE AMOUNTS OF FLOODING. SIGNIFICANT ROAD CLOSURES)
- Salem (Mill Lane)
- Wythe County (LARGE AMOUNTS OF FLOODING. SIGNIFICANT ROAD CLOSURES)
Keep in mind that along with the flooding in these areas, there may be trees and power lines down as well.
