FOREST, Va. – A public input meeting was held on Thursday at Forest Middle School to discuss concerns citizens have about Route 221.
Central Virginia Planning District Commission’s Kelly Hitchcock said recent growth has sparked interest in making improvements along the corridor.
“If you’ve been in this area for long, you’ve certainly seen it,” Hitchcock said. “Residential development, commercial development, and so this study is really a way to consider what’s happening now and to prepare.”
Drivers said they’re already feeling the growing pains.
“I think it’s an awful lot of traffic,” Forest resident Brent Blankinship said. “It’s going to get even worse the more of these townhouses that they build around here.”
The three specific areas being studied include:
- Perrowville Road to Thomas Jefferson Road (Route 811)
- Ambassador Drive to Cloverhill Blvd
- Enterprise Drive to Graves Mill Road
An online survey has been released for public feedback. You can take the survey here.
