Roanoke College professor speaks on first presidential debate

A lot of people are talking about last night’s debate and the race for the White House.

The candidates covered several hot-button issues including inflation, illegal immigration, the wars in Ukraine and Gaza, and abortion, leading to some intense moments.

“Well, I mean you know they wouldn’t be here if they didn’t think Virginia was worth winning. Or that it was winnable. You know, Virginia has gone blue in the last several presidential elections, but the state isn’t just one kind of political persuasion,” Justin Garrison, associate professor of political science said.

A second debate is set for September.
