ROANOKE, Va. – Kindness is in full bloom in the Roanoke Valley, as George’s Flowers gave out thousands of free bouquets.
“It’s a lot of planning that goes into this event,” said George Clements, founder and owner of George’s Flowers.
It’s part of their Petal It Forward campaign, where they give individuals two bouquets, one to keep and one to give away.
“Maybe someone who hasn’t ever received flowers before, or hasn’t been able to give the gift of flowers to someone. They get to feel good twice,” added Clements.
“It feels really good, spreading kindness around,” said 10-year-old Jackson Kent.
Jackson was following in his mom’s footsteps, who participated in the event in past years.
“He is very becoming a natural at it, giving away the flowers. He has been very, very happy doing it so and I’m happy to see him giving smiles,” said Lindsey Kent, who works at George’s.
The excitement was contagious.
“I had one lady, after I gave them to her, she asked for a hug,” Jackson said.
With more than 5,000 bouquets brightening people’s days, the initiative is more than just marketing for George’s.
“It helps us give back to our community, plus promote flowers and the power of flowers,” Clements explained.
A gesture that has happiness growing like wildflowers.
