BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Warm Hearth Foundation celebrated the 6th year of their Silver Santa Program!

The Silver Santa Program, which is put together by the Warm Hearth Foundation at the Warm Hearth Village, works to help the Village’s residents get their needs and wishes for the holidays. The residents rely on low, fixed monthly incomes, or receive some other housing or healthcare subsidy, so this program can assist them in getting everything they need for this time of year.

The WHV said they worked with around 30 donors to give over 80 carefully curated baskets that accommodate each resident’s needs. the River Valley Juniors Volleyball Club specifically granted the wishes of 27 individual residents!

Each year, the residents list their needs and wishes so that the staff can coordinate with the donors to ensure everyone gets what they need. While all baskets contain needs such as food, personal care, and pet supplies, residents can also wish for different items. Some of the wishes this year included penny loafers, boots, clothes, bedding, and a toaster oven!

The gifts arrived at the WHF on December 8th and 9th, and were gleefully delivered to the residents on the 12th and 13th.
