Sunday Evening Update:
Several strong storms rolled through the region throughout the afternoon. As we go into the next couple hours, a few more are possible, mainly towards the North Carolina boarder.
Henry, Halifax, and Pittsylvania counties were initially underneath a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 8 pm this evening, but it was expired early at 7:30 pm
As for the low temperatures this evening, it will be very similar to what we experienced last night: low 60s to low 70s.
A cold front was the main culprit of the storms we saw, which will lead us into cooler temperatures tomorrow.
There will still be loads of moisture in the atmosphere, so those heat indeces and “feels-like” temperatures will be a bit higher than the true-temperature; nonetheless, still a great improvement and a shift towards more seasonable conditions.
Sunday Morning:
After some strong storms yesterday, we’ll have a few more chances for thunderstorms coming up.
Highs today get into the upper 80s and low 90s throughout the region ahead of a cold front that will pass later today. That front will pass and bring in some isolated storms in Southside Virginia.
Monday will be quite similar, just with cooler temperatures.
Tuesday could be quite active as a strong cold front is expected to sweep through the region, bringing the chance for strong to severe storms. Wind damage appears to be the greatest threat.
After that front passes, temperatures will drop into the low to mid 80s, making for a cooler feel to close out this week.
