ROANOKE Va. – There’s a large police and fire-EMS presence at a Roanoke Sheetz Thursday night. 10 News was on the scene and saw a man get loaded into an ambulance on a stretcher while in handcuffs. Shawnon Wray, 46, of Martinsville, was charged with public intoxication and possession of a schedule I/II narcotic, according to Roanoke police. Authorities said this is related to a narcotics investigation.

Just off Franklin Road and near the Roanoke River, Ferguson plans to host more outside classes, but will also continue online training sessions.

ROANOKE Va. – UPDATE - 2:24 p.m. Dec. 09, 2020Crews are again out searching for the person swept away this past weekend. Crews are on the ground and in the water continuing the search for the missing man that was swept into the Roanoke River. Water levels on the Roanoke River created difficult conditions for visibility, according to Roanoke Fire-EMS. ORIGINAL STORYCrews in Roanoke are working to locate a person after they fell into the Roanoke River just after 6:00 Saturday night. Crews are using both a drone and boats to try and locate the person swept away by the water.

ROANOKE Va. – A local barbershop is getting creative to try to send a positive message in response to everything going on around the country right now. FGN Ground Zero in Roanoke made a video. The song “Waiting On The World To Change” by John Mayer plays throughout the video. FGN Ground Zero owner Antonio Morris straightens up his shop Monday afternoon. That message was made years ago and still to this day we kind of need the world to change,” said Hunt.

Roanoke Va. – There was a family celebration for trio of Colonels at Countryside Sports Complex. Two Colonel football players and a girls basketball player are all headed to Averett University to continue their careers. She’s a three point sharpshooter at guard who was a big contributor for the Colonels perennial playoff teams. And teammate Nick Andrews is another wide receiver and defensive back who was a starter his senior season. All three are headed to Averett, and all three are good examples of hard work paying off.

More Food for Frontline meals were delivered to those risking their own health for others. On Friday, donations from 10 News viewers bought lunches from Roanoke’s CoreLife Eatery for those who have a very important job. At the entrance to pick up 162 boxes of lunch were a few members of Carilion’s Environmental Services Department. The Food for Frontline donations was also the largest ever to-go order for CoreLife. As of 3:40 p.m. Friday, Food for Frontline had raised $18,230 with nearly 200 donations.

ROANOKE Va. - A multi-car crash is creating traffic back-ups on Interstate 81 near the 138 mile marker. As of 4:15 p.m. the northbound left shoulder, left lane, and right lane are closed.
