Virginia is getting closer to becoming a no-kill state, thanks to a new grant.

A batch of puppies was dropped off at the Regional Center for Animal Care & Protection late on Sunday night, and the center is now asking for the owner to come forward.

On Monday, the Patrick County Animal Shelter contacted Angels of Assisi about seven 4-month-old Anatolian Shepherd/Hound mix puppies and seven one-month-old Pit Bull/Terrier mixes, along with their 2-year-old mother, because they were at risk of euthanasia due to lack of space.

The Danville Area Humane Society is tending to eight puppies that were found inside and around a dumpster in Gretna, VA on Monday.
