Virginia Tech snapped a two-game losing streak with an 82-63 victory over Wake Forest on Senior Day Saturday at Cassell Coliseum.

FSU erupted for a 13-0 run early in the second to take control, outscoring Virginia Tech 53-27 in the second half.

Amani Hansberry led the Hokies with 19 points in the loss.

The Hokies sank their first 24 free throws.

The Cardinal closed the game on a 14-1 run for the road win.

Nearly 100 campers gathered this week for Virginia Tech’s annual Mike Young basketball camp, learning from players like Jaden Schutt, Tobi Lawal, and the great Ace Custis, whose jersey hangs among the few retired in Cassell Coliseum.

The VCU transfer led the team in points, rebounds and more in the 2024-25 season.

Jaydon Young and Ben Burnham scored 12 points each for the Hokies.

Tobi Lawal had 15 points with 10 rebounds, Brandon Rechsteiner made seven free throws in the final minute and Virginia Tech rallied to defeat Notre Dame 65-63. A dunk on an offensive rebound by Lawal gave Virginia Tech a 55-54 lead with 3:06 remaining. Ben Burnham added a 3-pointer for the Hokies a minute later for a 58-54 lead. With 32 seconds left, Rechsteiner made one free throw and missed the second, but Jaden Schutt grabbed the offensive rebound. Rechsteiner was fouled with 27 seconds left and made both free throws for a 61-56 lead. He made four more free throws in the next 23 seconds, the last two for a 65-61 lead with four seconds remaining.

Tobi Lawal scored 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and Virginia Tech never trailed.
