Bedford County Sheriff’s office investigating after man shot Monday, suspect arrested

BEDFORD CO., Va. 12/3 Update:

Investigators have identified the suspect in the incident as 38-year-old Michael Craghead; his last known address is in the Troutville area.

Investigators have obtained warrants for Craghead for malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. The investigation is ongoing; therefore, additional charges are possible. Craghead has been apprehended at this time and is being held without bond.


Update:

The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office released an update on the shooting that occurred Monday night.

According to officials, VSP and Bedford Town Police located the victim with multiple apparent gunshot wounds to the abdomen. Investigators have determined that the incident occurred in the 3000 block of Dickerson Mill Rd, and the incident appears to be isolated.

The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday that it was investigating after a man was shot in the 3000 block of Dickerson Mill Road.

Units arrived on the scene at 7:35 p.m. and the man was transported to the hospital. Officials did not specify the severity of the injuries but said the incident was under investigation and would provide more information at a later time.
