ROANOKE, Va. – Your Local Weather Authority is tracking warmer temperatures as we head into the weekend. Our next weather maker also marches into the region by Saturday morning.
Forecast high temperatures are a lot closer to the average for the time of year compared to the rest of the month. Nearly everyone gets into the 40s!
Winds were howling Thursday night, but they have settled down since. Winds peak around 10 mph for the rest of the day.
A front moves in quickly on Saturday. Here is a look at the early morning hours of our Saturday. A brief mix will start us off, and then we quickly transition to rain as temperatures warm into the 40s.
Then on the backside of the front, wrap-around snow bands are likely thanks to cold air funneling in. Most snow will be kept along the mountains in the New River Valley and the Highlands.
The odds of seeing 1 inch of snow along Southside, Lynchburg, and the Roanoke Valley are less than 50% at the moment. These odds will shift through the day, and Your Local Weather Authority will update you with the latest information.
