Gas station market in Roanoke significantly damaged following fire

A deli within the market, Hale’s Kitchen, set up a GoFundMe as a result of the fire

ROANOKE, Va. – A fire at Southwest Market in Roanoke resulted in significant damage to the building, Roanoke Fire-EMS Department showed on a Facebook post on Saturday.

Roanoke Fire-EMS said there was a structure fire at the 500 block of Elm Avenue Southwest around 6:19 a.m. on Saturday. The location was later found to be Southwest Market. Upon arrival, they found heavy flames coming from the building and upgraded the structure fire to a working fire. Multiple units assisted in extinguishing the fire, and it was marked under control by 6:56 a.m.

No injuries were reported, but images show significant damage to the market. A deli within Southwest Market known as Hale’s Kitchen (a.k.a. Smokey Jay’s) also set up a GoFundMe page for the damages and money associated with this loss.

Roanoke FireEMS thanked their team for the quick work in containing the fire.
