ORIGINAL STORY
The Town of Pulaski alongside the Virginia Department of Health have issued a boil water advisory for Pulaski.
This advisory is due to a temporary water service issue caused by a water main break.
It’s affecting areas such as parts of downtown south of 10th St NW, areas south of the railroad tracks, Rt. 99 up to the town boundary, and northeast properties south of Peppers Ferry Rd and Mashburn Ave.
Residents should boil tap water for one minute before using it for drinking or cooking, or use bottled water instead.
Boiling helps eliminate harmful bacteria and organisms.
If boiling isn’t an option, use liquid household bleach to disinfect the water. Ensure the bleach is unscented and contains at least a 5.25% hypochlorite solution. Add eight drops per gallon of water, stir, and let it sit for 30 minutes. Water purification tablets are also available as an alternative.
Repairs are underway, and water samples will be tested to ensure safety. Residents will be informed when it is safe to use tap water without boiling.
